1.Daniel– Daniel and Bran
Sometimes being nosy isn’t such a bad thing.
Daniel knew going to look for shifters with his best friend Anthony wasn’t a good idea, but he never expected it to end like it did. Now he has a new job with Kameron Rhett, the Gillham pack alpha, and he loves it. He enjoys being around shifters, and even more being away from his house and his alcoholic father.
Bran Morris’ first meeting as the head of the council enforcers takes him to Gillham. Kameron needs to make a decision about coming out to the town, and Bran is supposed to help with it. He never expected to meet his mate, not after losing his wife and child thirty-six years before.
Daniel and Bran hit it off right away, but when Daniel’s father becomes a problem, Daniel doesn’t know what to do. Should he live his life and be with his mate, or should he stick with his father to be sure the man doesn’t hurt himself? What would happen to his relationship with Bran if he chooses his father?
2.Anthony– Anthony and Rob
Sometimes being in the wrong place at the wrong time isn’t that bad after all.
Anthony is so clumsy he might as well have invented clumsiness. He has daily encounters with the ground and walls, but he manages to stay mostly healthy—at least until he literally falls on his face into a meeting organized to plan Kameron’s death.
Rob just came back from a three-week mission in the jungle, and the only thing he wants to do is sleep. Of course, that means Kameron calls him of all people to protect Anthony. He hadn’t expected Anthony to be his mate, and it makes up for the lost sleep.
Rob has his work cut for him defending Anthony from walls and the men plotting against Kameron, but it’s not his only problem. Anthony is reluctant to believe Rob is here to stay, and Rob isn’t sure he’ll ever be able to convince him. Will Anthony finally see the truth in Rob’s words, or will problems find him before he can?
3.Kin– Kin and Saul
Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to find happiness.
Kin always knew his job as an enforcer wouldn’t last forever. His mother is planning his marriage, to a woman she’ll choose to help advance their family name and fortune. The only way he has out of it is finding his mate, but there’s no quick or easy way to do that.
Saul has thought himself crazy for most of the past ten years. He sees half-transparent animal faces layered on some people’s human faces, and he voluntarily walked into a psychiatric hospital when he was twenty-three. Now he’s thirty-four, and he feels like he missed out on life. When his sister pushes him into leaving the hospital, he hesitates, but she won’t take no for an answer, no matter how much their parents pay Saul’s doctor to keep him there.
When Kin and his team are sent to make sure Saul gets out without any problems, Kin expects the mission to be routine. Instead, he knows Saul is his mate as soon as they meet. Will Saul finally manage to walk out of the hospital? And is Saul really crazy, or is there an explanation for what he can see?
4.Cerris– Cerris and Jackson
Things always happen for a reason, even the things you don’t want to happen.
Cerris is an orphan who’s been told he’s a monster all his life, and he’s come to believe it. He did his best to keep his werewolf half under control, but when he killed a hunter, Dominic asked the enforcers for help. Cerris is sent to work with their only werewolf, but as soon as he sees the man, he realizes they’re mates, and he runs.
Jackson doesn’t understand why Cerris runs, but he intends to find out. When he finally locates Cerris, Cerris’ friends intervene and explain what happened to him and why he doesn’t want to see Jackson—Jackson is a werewolf, and all werewolves are monsters.
Jackson knows he’ll have to work hard to convince Cerris of the contrary, and he hopes finding Cerris’ long-lost father will help. He also has to teach Cerris to control his wolf before something happens.
Will Cerris learn control, or will he become the monster he always thought he was?
5.Yerad– Yerad and Lenny
Sometimes fear keeps us away from happiness.
Yerad never expected his mate to run seconds after they’d met, but that’s what fate dealt him. Lenny insists on saying he doesn’t want Yerad. Yerad wants to push for answers, but he’s a liaison agent for the council, and his job is more important than a stubborn man who doesn’t want him.
Lenny never wanted to meet his mate. His parents, the people who should have shielded him from the world, kicked him out, and he doesn’t want to be hurt again. He knows that’s what will eventually happen if he agrees to give Yerad a chance, and that’s why he tells his mate to leave him alone.
Lenny’s resolve weakens as his friends try to convince him to give Yerad a chance. When he finds out Yerad is working with his birth tribe, he runs to the rescue, only to find out Yerad didn’t need him. Will Yerad forgive Lenny for pushing him away? Will Lenny manage to get over his fear of being hurt to give Yerad a chance? Or will fear have the upper hand and ruin their mating?
6.Mael– Mael and Scott
Sometimes trusting is the hardest thing to do.
When Mael agrees to help Lenny retrieve his best friend after he’s been dumped, he thinks it’ll be an easy in and out job. He knows it isn’t as soon as he sets eyes on Scott because Scott is his mate.
Scott’s just been dumped by his boyfriend of two weeks, who went back to his ex. He’s surprised when he realizes Mael is his mate, then worried when Mael and the rest of his team are sent to work with Mael’s tribe—and his ex-boyfriend.
Mael might have been with his tribe’s leader for two years, but it’s in the past. He’s angry when Scott asks Yerad to shimmer him there because he doesn’t trust Mael and Muirgeh, but he understands. Besides, Scott is useful to the team, and he helps them look for the shifters stealing food and entering tribe territory.
Will Muirgeh’s presence influence Mael and Scott’s relationship? Will Scott be able to get over how close Mael is to Muirgeh? And what will happen when Mael accidentally initiates the bond between them?
7.Damien– Damien and Jake
Sometimes you have to admit you were wrong to get the happiness that’s right in front of you.
Damien is an enforcer, and he loves his job. He loves helping people who don’t have anyone else on their side, and he loves his team like a family. There’s something missing in his life, though, and he knows what it is. A lot of his friends are finding their mates, yet he’s still single.
Jake is back in Gillham, hoping to talk some sense into his father. Jake still thinks Sei is too young to be mated with an eighty-six-year-old bear shifter, but his dad doesn’t listen, no matter how many times Jake tries to tell him that.
When Damien and Jake meet, Damien’s age is a problem for Jake from the very beginning. There are only twenty years between them, which isn’t a lot for shifters, but Jake can’t see beyond it and beyond how fragile Damien looks. So he leaves.
Damien accepts a job as a bodyguard in the hope he’ll start forgetting Jake. They’re in the same city, though, and when Jake tentatively reaches out to him, Damien will have to choose whether he wants to give his mate a second chance or not. To complicate things, someone is after Hudson, the man Damien is protecting and who also is a friend of Jake’s family.
Will Damien give Jake another chance? Or will something happen to separate them before they can get over their problems?
8.Jordan– Jordan and Angelo
Second chances can happen when we least expect them to.
Jordan loves his brother Freddy, but he hates that Freddy has fallen into a life of crime to make sure Jordan didn’t. He especially hates it when Freddy’s competitors try to get to Freddy through him, because unlike Freddy, he never learned more than the basics to fight and defend himself. So when he’s attacked, he shifts into his flamingo form and flies away, ending up wounded in the bushes behind a house.
Angelo left Italy and the mate who rejected him decades ago. He’s built himself a new life in Gillham, but he can’t help regretting he doesn’t have a man by his side. When a flamingo crashes into his bushes, he’s astounded to find out the bird the man shifts into is his mate, because it shouldn’t be possible. Angelo’s mate is in Italy, happily married. Right?
Jordan and Angelo hit it off from the start, but Freddy is in danger. The men after him won’t stop trying to get to him, even though he now has the council’s protection. Will Angelo manage to keep both Jordan and Freddy safe, or will he lose his mate for the second time?
9.Maximilian– Max and Dane
Sometimes facing the past is the only way to move forward.
Max and his twin, Jessie, moved to Gillham six months ago after the enforcers rescued them from their abusive alpha. Max might not be in peak form yet, but he’s had enough of sitting on his ass all day. When he asks Kameron for a job, he doesn’t expect he’ll be teamed up with his mate.
Dane is still recovering from the years he spent in one of the Glass Research Company’s labs and on the run, but he wants to be useful. When Kameron assigns him to answer the new council hotline, he meets his new colleague, Max. Max isn’t only a coworker, though—he’s also Dane’s mate.
Max and Dane want to move forward, together, but to do that, they have to let go of the past. Max will have to face the council and explain what his alpha did to him, while Dane has to face his past and the betrayal of someone who should have protected him. Getting over a painful past isn’t easy though. Will they be able to keep their relationship steady as they face the memories?
10.Caleb– Caleb and Freddy
Is what others think of you really that important?
Caleb and his friends have been in Gillham for months, but the memories of what happened to him in the lab still torture him. He developed the habit of sleeping in the forest in his chinchilla form to avoid waking his friends with his nightmares. One night, he finds a man under his tree, and that man is his mate.
Freddy knows most of the pack doesn’t like him. He used to be a drug dealer, and while his reason was to keep his brother out of that life, he knows it’s not a good enough excuse. He’s not angry at the way the pack treats him, and when he meets his mate, he expects Caleb to behave the same way.
Caleb doesn’t. Caleb’s friends aren’t enthusiastic about Freddy being his mate, though, and when one of them makes it clear that he expects Freddy to do whatever it takes to keep Caleb safe from his father—even if that means his own death—Freddy decides he’s right and chooses to confront his dad.
11.Tristan– Tristan and Hudson
To heal, you have to let the pain go.
Twelve years have passed since Tristan and his friends were rescued by the council enforcers and brought to Gillham. Tristan’s friends have adapted. They have full lives, but he doesn’t. He’s still trapped in the grief of losing his mate in the lab they were both locked in, and he hasn’t given himself the opportunity to start healing, isolating himself instead.
Hudson knows exactly what losing a mate does to a person. He lost Paul, his mate, in a car accident twenty-six years earlier, and in many ways, he still feels the pain of that day. When he meets Tristan, he immediately knows he can help him—if not to heal, at least to have a chance to start living again.
Tristan’s shell is hard to break, but Hudson isn’t the kind of man who gives up easily. Still, Tristan has to be the one to choose to take the first step toward healing, or Hudson won’t be able to do anything for him. Will Tristan’s shroud of grief keep Hudson away, or will Hudson be able to get through to him and talk to his hurting soul?
12.Jessie– Jessie and Ezra
When you’re given a second chance, you have to take it no matter what.
Jessie rejected his mate years before, and he’s regretted it ever since. He knows Ezra is probably better off without him, though, and he hasn’t tried to reach out to him. Instead, he’s been dating women who can’t remind him of the man he lost by his own fault.
Ezra has been staying away from Gillham and Jessie, just like Jessie asked him to do twelve years before. He became an enforcer, and Whitedell has been his home for the past decade.
That changes when their old alpha escapes from the council jail, wanting revenge on the two men who put him there—Jessie and his twin brother, Max. Ezra can’t stay away when his mate is in danger, so he goes back to Gillham.
When Jessie finds out Ezra is there, he realizes he’d been given a second chance to be with his mate. He needs to make things right with him, though, and it won’t be an easy task, not when Alpha Reddings is out to kill him.
Will Jessie manage to get Ezra to forgive him? And will Ezra be able to keep his mate safe?
13.Lucas– Lucas and Carter
Sometimes the past isn’t really over even though you’re done with it.
Lucas’ life is good. He has friends, lives in a nice house, and owns a bookstore—which he thinks is the perfect job. He’s missing love, though, and he’s envious of his mated friends.
Carter left Chicago after his divorce. He needed a change, and Gillham is his hometown and a great place to raise his daughter Lilia. He’s wary when he meets Lucas and they realize Carter’s his mate, but he’s willing to give love another chance. Lilia deserves a second parent—the parent Todd never wanted to be.
Lucas thinks everything is going well until Todd tries to wiggle his way back into Carter’s life. He believes Carter when he says he’s not getting back with his ex, but is that really what Todd wants, or is there more behind his attempts to convince Carter he still loves him? And if there is, to what end is Todd willing to push himself to get it?
14.Ryan– Ryan and Avery
Sometimes things aren’t as they seem—and sometimes, they are.
Avery has been attracted to Ryan for months, but he hasn’t even talked to him yet, even though he suspects they are mates. He wants to, but his ex is in town, and Kent has the bad habit of talking with his fists when he gets angry, which is one of the reasons Avery left Salt Lake City in the first place. He needs to keep Ryan safe, even though Ryan doesn’t even know who he is, not really.
Ryan’s world was turned upside down when he scented his mate and realized she was a woman. It’s taken him weeks to find her, and when he finally manages to talk to her, it’s only to find out Avery is not a woman after all, and that he’s leaving town. He doesn’t care that Avery wears both women’s and men’s clothes. The only thing that matters is that he might lose his mate right after finally finding him.
Ryan convinces Avery to stay and hide at his house. Avery agrees because he doesn’t want to lose his mate. Ryan seemed to accept him as he is, women’s clothes and all, like no one else ever has. But Kent isn’t so easily dissuaded, and he has Avery’s father backing him. Will he manage to tear Avery and Ryan apart?
15.Xander– Xander and Muirgeh
How can you trust anyone when you don’t trust yourself?
Xander has been told he’s too big all his life, first by his mother before she left when he was nine, then by everyone else. At six feet eight, he knows that’s true, and it makes for a lonely life when most of the guys he likes are afraid he’ll hurt them. He doesn’t need love, though, and he’s focused on his friends and his job as a council enforcer.
Muirgeh is the leader of the Chardon tribe, and he wants out. He never wanted to rule, but he had no choice when his parents died. He’s retiring, though, or at least he would if he could find someone to take his place. Several tribe members are jockeying for the job, and some of them are going too far, threatening him until he has no choice but to call in the council.
Neither man expected to meet his mate, and they have so much to deal with that their relationship stays on the back burner, at least in the beginning. Between the threats against Muirgeh, his need to find an heir, and Xander’s mother coming back into his life, they’ll have to rely on each other—or lose their chance at a relationship.
16.Colin– Colin and Matt
Sometimes we are the hardest on ourselves, even when we shouldn’t be.
Colin has been living half a life for the past twenty years, ever since his father caught him kissing William. Instead of standing up for their relationship, Colin allowed William to be thrown in jail and married the woman his father chose for him. He loves his two sons and even Justine, but they were never meant to be together, and they’ll never be truly happy as a couple. That suits Colin just fine because he doesn’t deserve to be happy. His son Brandon does, though, and when Colin’s father decides to arrange a marriage for him, Colin finds the courage he never thought he had and finally stands up to him.
A half-shifter created in a lab, Matt has been working undercover for the past fifteen years with very little time as his real self in between cases. When he gets shot and realizes he won’t be able to go back to his job, he’s surprisingly relieved. He’ll finally have time to be himself and to cultivate his relationship with the few friends he managed to make in between jobs. And best of all, he’s met his mate. Maybe now they can get to know each other and see what’s possible.
Things aren’t that easy, though. Even after Matt and Colin talk, Colin is still married, still guilt-ridden over the pain he caused William, and still terrified of his father. Justine finds her courage first and tells Colin it’s time for them to get divorced. He agrees—but can he overcome his terror and stand up for himself and his mate?
17.Grey– Grey and Patrick
Sometimes the best moment of your life becomes the worst.
Grey’s boyfriend just broke up with him—again. Grey’s love life has been a long trail of failed relationships, and he decides drowning his sorrows in alcohol might be a good idea. Turns out it is, although not the way he’d thought.
Patrick was supposed to spend the evening with his son, his ex-wife, and her new husband, but Rose’s daughter is sick, so he makes his way to the bar instead. There, he meets his mate when he rescues him from a pushy man trying to pick him up.
Patrick and Grey spend the night together, and Grey knows his life is about to change. He’d never have imagined how much, though. The day after he and Patrick meet, the body of a man with Grey’s name carved into his chest is found at the entrance of pack territory. Another body appears a few days later, making it clear someone is after Grey, especially after he realizes he’d hooked up with both the victims in the past.
Grey has no idea who the killer is, and Patrick feels at a loss. He’s a detective for the Gillham Police Department, but the only thing he cares about is keeping his mate safe. Will Patrick succeed, or will the killer manage to get his hands on Grey before anyone can stop him?
18.Sasha– Sasha and Hunter
When you have something to lose, the hardest decisions to make can become the easiest.
Sasha doesn’t want a mate. He barely even wants friends, but he’s given up on trying to keep them out of his life. He’s content as he is, working at the bar in Gillham and going home to his empty apartment. It’s better that way, and safer—for everyone. Because Sasha has a secret, and he’s already responsible for one death, and he doesn’t want anything like that to happen again.
Hunter has always been content with hookups and one-night stands. He’s never really thought about finding his mate—until he does. Sasha is standoffish, and while Hunter wishes he were an easier man to deal with, he’s ready to wait as long as he needs to in order to have him in his life. Still, when he and his team are sent on a mission in the Brazilian rainforest, he hopes that will give Sasha enough time to make a decision about them.
Sasha realizes he’s made a mistake by pushing Hunter away when Hunter doesn’t come back from the mission. Hunter is stuck in a rainforest crawling with members of the Beasts gang, and he needs help. Will Sasha be able to help him, or will he lose Hunter before he even has him?
I wrote a Valentine short for Sasha and Hunter. You can get it by subscribing to my newsletter.
Sasha and Hunter have been dating for a few months now, and they both feel it’s time for more.
Sasha isn’t sure what to do about it—wanting more with his mate means moving to Whitedell, and while he wouldn’t mind doing that, how can he be sure Hunter wants him that much? He knows his past and his powers are an obstacle only in his mind, but obstacles they are.
Hunter wants to move in with Sasha, and possibly, to bond with him. Sasha has been hesitant about that since the beginning, though, and the last thing Hunter wants is to push too much and have Sasha freak out.
But it’s Valentine’s Day, and not even a flare of Sasha’s power can mess things up. Will they have the courage to finally talk about their future, though?
19.Michael– Michael and Cooper
It’s not easy to leave the past behind…but sometimes, it is.
Michael has been on leave from his job as an enforcer since he was stabbed while on a mission. He feels ready to get back to work, but Jared, the Whitedell pride doctor, won’t let him. He’s relieved when he and two of his team members are sent on a short, easy mission—along with everyone else in the pride because he’s whined about being bored for weeks. But the mission isn’t as easy as Michael had thought it would be, and the biggest surprise for him is smelling his mate in the house he’s supposed to check.
Cooper has been stuck in the Green Hill pride mansion for close to fifteen years. His alpha is obsessed with keeping the pride members there since several of them left, and Cooper is the one paying the highest price. He’s the pride’s slave, and he’s beaten regularly.
But when he smells his mate at the front door, he knows things are about to change.
Michael needs to get his mate out of that house. Cooper is stronger than most people give him credit for, and he manages to escape on his own. They both know Alpha Carter isn’t going to take it kindly, though. Bonding will make sure Cooper isn’t forced to go back, but Will Alpha Carter stop and acknowledge it, or will they have to find another way to keep Cooper in Whitedell?
20.Pryderi– Pryderi and Nate
Age is just a number.
Pryderi has known Nate was his mate for weeks—way too long not to tell him. But Pryderi grew up with rejection, and he isn’t sure he has the courage to possibly face it again, especially coming from the man he’s been falling in love with from afar and who represents his future. He’s not going to gain anything by watching Nate from afar, though.
Nate’s world gets upended over just a few days. First Pryderi, the cute Nix he’s noticed more than he likes to admit, tells him they’re mates, then the brother he thought was dead for the past ten years suddenly comes back with the Beasts after him. Nate isn’t sure how to deal with any of them, but Calvin has always been the center of his world, and that hasn’t changed.
Pryderi has a hard time getting through to Nate, who’s terrified of losing him like he thought he’d lost his brother. The fact that Pryderi is working undercover in Nate’s bar to try to find the last members of the Beasts still in town is making things both worse and better—and more than a little complicated.
Second chances and new starts are hard to come by.
Justin wasn’t planning on moving to Gillham. He doesn’t have a reason, except that his best friend has just bonded with his mate and now lives there. But when Justin helps Pryderi move, he meets Pryderi’s brother, Yedley—his mate.
Yedley has no idea what he’s doing. He has a chance at a new life, but he doesn’t know where to start until Fate takes that decision away from him and puts Justin in his path. But meeting his mate doesn’t solve Yedley’s problems. Justin is there for him, but Yedley still needs to come out to his parents and find his way in life. He needs to let Justin become close, even though he’s still trying to get over his kidnapping and the time he spent with the Beasts, and he doesn’t know how to do that.
The danger the Beasts represent is still looming, and Justin is glad when his transfer request to Gillham is accepted, because it means he can be close to his mate and keep him safe. It’s a new start for both him and Yedley, but they’ll have to find their way around each other—and around their bond.
22.Davis– Davis and Calvin
Calvin is stronger than he thinks…
Davis is an enforcer. His job is to protect the pack in Gillham and the shifters and humans who live there. That’s the main reason he agrees to go undercover with the Beasts, the gang threatening everything Davis cares for. The second reason he takes the job is that everyone else on his team has a mate or a significant other, while he’s single.
Until he meets his mate.
Calvin is free after spending more than ten years in various labs, but he’s not the same man he was before. He’s a shifter now, and a bad one at that. No one ever taught him to shift back and forth or to fly in his bat form, and that leads to a lot of problems—like getting tangled in his mate’s beard.
Davis and Calvin don’t have the time to get to know each other before Davis has to leave. Calvin isn’t about to miss out on the chance to be with his mate, though
Even if it means going after him.
23.Lorcan– Lorcan and Devon
Devon needs to win against fear, but can he?
Lorcan knows Devon is his mate. What he doesn’t know is what to do with that. If it had been anyone else, he would have talked to them, but Devon is on the run from his abusive ex, a man who is planning to attack Gillham and the pack, and Lorcan doesn’t want to spook Devon more than he already is.
Devon never wants to see his ex again. He hates the man, even though they’re mates—or are they? It’s what Elroy said, but as time passes and he finds himself drawn to Lorcan, Devon starts to wonder.
Lorcan and Devon know they have a lot of work to do if they want to be together. Devon needs to understand that Lorcan isn’t going to hurt him and that he’s nothing like Elroy, but he’s not sure he can. Then there’s Elroy, who’s still in the background, threatening Devon.
Devon wants a future with Lorcan, but is it too much to hope for? Elroy won’t let go of him easily, and neither will fear. He’ll have to fight both of them to get the life he wants. The only problem is that he’s not sure he’s strong enough.
24.Jonathan– Jonathan and Cedric
